Nyika National Park

Africa's largest montane plateau — rolling highlands, wildflower meadows, roan antelope, leopard, and breathtaking scenery at 2,400m.

About Nyika National Park

Nyika National Park is one of Africa's most extraordinary and unique wilderness areas — a vast, rolling montane plateau in northern Malawi rising to over 2,400 metres above sea level. It is the largest national park in Malawi and home to Africa's largest montane plateau.

The Nyika Plateau is carpeted with rolling grasslands studded with wildflower meadows — over 200 orchid species bloom seasonally — and punctuated by evergreen forest patches and rocky outcrops. The scenery is unlike anywhere else in Africa.

Wildlife on the plateau is dominated by large herds of roan antelope — Nyika has the highest concentration of roan in Malawi — along with eland, zebra, reedbuck, warthog, and one of Malawi's most active leopard populations. Elephant and lion also roam the park.
