Tanzania's Northern Circuit can be visited year-round, but the timing of your visit significantly influences what you'll witness. The Great Migration is a year-round event β but the most dramatic river crossings occur between July and October when the herds are in the northern Serengeti and the Masai Mara.
Calving season in southern Serengeti β thousands of wildebeest calves born. Excellent predator action.
Green season β fewer tourists, lush landscapes, excellent birding. Migration moves northward.
Migration enters Western Corridor. First river crossings of the Grumeti River begin.
BEST TIME β wildebeest at the Mara River. Dramatic river crossings and intense predator activity.
Migration moves south. Short rains bring green landscapes and excellent photography conditions.
